Tiger Update

Good evening school community,

We are excited to be back and hear student’s voices in the school classrooms. This year Mrs. Griggs is serving as the PreK-12 Head Principal and Mrs. Jan Swart as the PreK-12 Assistant Principal. Additionally, we are thankful to have received the Counselor Corp Grant providing the district with a full-time school counselor, Mrs. Kathyn Kolar. Please know we are ready to serve students and families within our community as we look forward to this 21/22 school year.

As our COVID precautions continue, we will keep you updated on any new cases. Monday, August 23rd we were notified of one positive case in the district. Several students are awaiting test results and are choosing to stay at home until the results return. Through contact tracing, Union City Administration identified any students who were exposed according to the guidelines of the CDC, and parents have been notified for those students.

Every measure is being taken to isolate and contain the potential spread of the virus according to the most current guidelines from the CDC and health officials. Union City Schools reminds everyone to continue to follow the appropriate guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID-19:

  • Face masks are encouraged but not required for any student or staff who may have a concern regarding exposure

  • Practice social distancing by maintaining a distance of 6 feet between yourself and others

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds

  • Self-monitor for symptoms prior to reporting to school

UC District administration will continue to monitor health situations as they arise and will take appropriate steps as necessary. The safety and health of our staff and students continue to be the top priority! As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Union City Public Schools Administration.

 Thank you,

Dr. Becky Slothower

Superintendent
