Please share this invitation from Mayor McGregor- Feel free to join us this evening at the new gym at 6:30 pm as Union City is honored as a Purple Heart City. The purpose and meaning of a community named a Purple Heart City is to honor and remember military personnel wounded or killed in combat with hostile forces. The Purple Heart is specifically a combat decoration and is our Nation's oldest military medal. The medal was first created by General George Washington in 1782 and was then known as the Badge of Military Merit.
You are welcome to attend and join the City with this new honor.
