As many know we are required to do drills each semester. This week we have completed fire, tornado and today we have a lock down drill scheduled. The student and teachers have done an excellent and efficient job on all accounts. We truly are blessed with some of the BEST!

Hello ALL! A few important new procedural announcements before the new school year kicks off tomorrow!
*Parking Lots have changed. High School Student Drivers will be parking in the larger south parking lot across from the cafeteria and the adult on duty will allow them to enter through the blue gate via the breezeway. There will be an adult assigned to crosswalk duty from 7:50-8:15 for those crossing Division. Parents/faculty/visitor parking will return to the East parking lot across from the elementary entrance.
*Morning drop off for elementary students will continue to be same as last year in regards to front entrance, just easier access from visitor parking area.
*HS students enrolled in weight training first period will report to school campus tomorrow NOT THE GYM. Please meet in Mr. Patterson's classroom.
*Busses and MS/HS parents dropping off students will do so at the North Entrance of the elementary. NO DROP OFFS IN FRONT OF CAFETERIA FOR SAFETY REASONS. We are working very hard to reduce the number of entrance points to campus. Once the last projects are complete these will be the ONLY two morning entrances for the campus which will both be monitored from 7:50-8:15. At 8:15 the doors will be locked and the only remaining entrance will be through the elementary, where you will be buzzed in by front office staff or the SRO.
*Please be patient with our bus drivers tomorrow as we have MANY new students which has changed some routes significantly.
*REMINDER: The NO CELL PHONE or Smart Devices of any kind BELL TO BELL was passed into law and will begin tomorrow. Medical exemptions for BP/Heart conditions/Diabetes etc. will be accepted when documented by a physician. Please power off devices and put them away out of sight before 8:15 to avoid an infraction. Please remember this is a state law that we are required to enforce. Please do not put teachers or admin in a bad position by trying to argue or out maneuver something mandated to us by state statute.
We are so excited to see everyone tomorrow! All of the kids I have seen so far have grown SO MUCH! Our teachers have worked really hard to prepare for their new classes and come up with fun and exciting activities to kick the year off right! Rest up so we can have a fabulous day together tomorrow!

As most everyone knows the Oklahoma Legislature passed a bill regarding personal electronic devices in school that prohibits the use of all cellular devices from 'bell to bell'. For UCPS this means from 8:15AM-3:15PM. Attached is the policy we have adopted via the OsSBA guidelines. This policy is specific to UCPS. Consequences for potential infractions will be addressed on a case by case basis and will be listed in the student handbook which will be updated and posted on our website Monday. To begin the school year students/parents will be given the option to (1) keep the devices in their bags POWERED OFF from bell to bell but within reach in case of an emergency situation (2) be given a YONDR pouch which is a magnetized locking safe device to carry their phone in with multiple stations within the school and classrooms to immediately open the pouch in an emergency situation. Upon multiple infractions the YONDR pouch will be required to maintain the privilege of having the personal electronic devices on campus. Students using the YONDR pouches that are leaving campus for lunch OR last period for HS athletics will be allowed to unlock the. And use them OFF CAMPUS for safety purposes. Please remember that this policy is REQUIRED BY LAW and we will continue to work within the constraints of the law to ensure that your students have access to their devices in any emergency situation.
